12.  This comet hit Jupiter. And the impact wason Jupiter’s atmosphere had been simply “spectacular and beyond expectations.” Estimated diameter about 2 kilometers.

-When you exhale the diaphragm and intercostal muscle relax and the chest cavity gets smaller. The decrease in volume increases the pressure inside the chest above outside air pressure. Air flows out of lungs.

- The two ventricles are different in thickness because the left ventricle pumps more blood then the right ventricle. The right ventricle pumps blood to the lungs which is so close to it, but the left ventricle needs to pump the blood through out the body. That’s what it is way thicker. More muscle is needed.

2. What did the Aorta feel like?

- The aorta was very stretchy and tough to me and it also looked pinkish. When we tried to cut it, it was very hard because of its toughness. The aorta is the artery that pumps blood throughout the body. As soon as you put your finger through this artery it leads to 2 different chambers.

3. Does the Aorta have a lot of it’s own blood supply?

- I think the aorta had a lot of it’s on blood supply because it has to pump the blood that goes through the artery to the whole body.

4. How many Pulmonary veins are there?

- There were 2 pulmary veins on each side of the heart.

5. What kind of muscle is the heart muscle made out of?

-  The heart muscle is called the cardiac muscle it’s function is to pump blood through he circulatory system.

6. Which valve from the pig is used for human transplant ? What drugs do you have to take after transplant.

-  The valve that the pigs have for a human transplant is called the mitral valve. The drugs that humans have to take everyday is called immunosuppressive.

Circulatory System: The system of vessels, blood, and the heart responsible for transport of substance through the body.

Plasma: The liquid component of blood.

Blood Protein: A protein carried in the plasma of the blood.

Antibody: A type of blood protein that recognizes and tries to destroy foreign matter in the body.

Immune System: The parts of the body involved in defending against disease-causing organism.

Hormone: A type of blood protein that acts as a chemical messenger.

Clot-Forming Blood Protein: A set of protein that form a hard plug wherever a blood vessel has been damaged.

Red Blood Cell: A small disk-shaped blood cell that contains hemoglobin a protein combines with oxygen.

Hemoglobin: A protein contained in red blood cells that pick up oxygen in areas of high concentration and release the oxygen in areas of low concentration.

White Blood Cell:  Part of the immune system, they gaurd against bacteria and other dangerous substance that enter the body.

Platelet: A small cell like fragment found in the blood.

Artery: A thick-walled blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart.

Vein: Blood vessels returning blood to your heart.

Capillary: A tiny, thin-walled blood vessel that carries blood close to body cells for the exchange of supplies and waste.

Valve: Are flaps that open to allow flow in one direction and close to prevent flow in the oppisite direction.

Pulse: The rhythm surge of blood passing a certain place in an artery.

Heart Rate: Number of times heart beats in a minute.

Oxygenated Blood: Blood in which the red blood cells are carrying large amounts of oxygen.

De-oxygenated Blood: Blood in which the red blood cells have given up their oxygen to body cells and so are no longer carrying large amounts of oxygen.

Atrium: One of two chambers t the top of the heart.

Ventricle: Two chambers at the bottom of the heart.

Heart Attack:A failure of the blood supply to the muscle of the heart

Atherosclerosis: A disease in which cholesterol and other fats stick to the inner surface of arteries reduce the amount of blood moving through the artery

High Blood Pressure: A condition in which a person’s blood pressure is higher than usual most of the time.

Liver: A large organ located above the stomach that has several functions in the body.

Excretion: The process of removing excess water salts and the waste products of cells from the body.

Excretory System: The organs of the body responsible for removing exes water salts and waste products of cells.

Kidney: A pair of organs that form part of the excretory system.

Urine: Mixture of waste and water.

Urinary Bladder: Urine produced by your kidneys travel to a balloon like organ

Urethra:Urine released from the body.

11. My calcium intake is 1050mg. Normal calcium intake for a teenager is 1300mg.

- Carbohydrates is the best  energy source for athletes.

- Vitamin A and C cure acne.

- Lack of Iron causes Anemia ( lack of red blood cells)

- Body needs calories to grow and repair cells.

- Protein build and repairs your muscles and organs.

- Water helps body stay cool and get rid of waste.

- Vitamin A helps eyes adapt to darkness.

- Vitamin D helps bones get the calcium they need.

This was the Golf Ball Project. Our model shot the farthest…i think we wont that!
